ESCMID Global 2026: Late-breaking Abstract Submission Now Open
The Late-breaking Abstract Submission is now open for ESCMID Global 2026, the annual congress of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, which will take place in Munich in 2026.
Late-breaking abstracts are intended to showcase new, high-impact data that have not yet been published and were generated after the closure of the regular abstract submission. This dedicated call offers researchers the opportunity to present findings of immediate relevance to clinical practice and public health.
Deadline
Late-breaking abstract submission will close on 13 February 2026 at 5:00 PM CET.
Eligible Topics for Late-breaking Abstracts
For the 2026 edition, ESCMID will exclusively consider late-breaking abstracts addressing one of the following areas:
-
New drugs and vaccines
-
Clinical trials
-
New and emerging pathogens
-
Outbreaks and public health emergencies
Abstract Categories
Abstracts must be submitted within one of the 13 official ESCMID categories, covering the full spectrum of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. These include viral and bacterial infections, antimicrobial resistance, diagnostic microbiology, infection prevention and control, public health and vaccines, as well as case reports and case series.
Correctly selecting the appropriate category and subcategory is essential, as this determines the scientific context in which the abstract will be reviewed and presented during the congress.
Full details on submission criteria and procedures are available on the official ESCMID website.
